Untouched marine life, muck diving and the best soft coral in Indo-Pacific waters.
With more than 25 dive sites around the island, diving in Bangka is characterised by a reef with rock topography, caves and pinnacles completely covered with multicoloured soft corals, sponges and sea fans.
The marine life is practically intact and is spectacular due to the island’s exposure to the currents caused by the confluence of the Indian and Pacific Oceans and the amount of nutrients it provides. This means that the diversity of all kinds of reef species is guaranteed. In addition, pelagic species such as sharks of various kinds, jacks, tunas and rays can also be sighted. All in all, the diving around Bangka and North Sulawesi is considered to be some of the best in the world in terms of biodiversity and variety of dives.
The best time of the year to dive in these waters is from March to June and from October to December, when visibility can be more than 35 metres.
