Revillagigedo

The Revillagigedo Archipelago, better known as “Socorro”, is located about 250 nautical miles south of Cabo San Lucas, in Baja California. This archipelago is made up of 4 islands, and diving is concentrated on three of them: San Benedicto, Socorro and Roca Partida.

The complete isolation of this archipelago in the middle of the Pacific has favoured the concentration of a great marine life that has turned it into one of the must-see diving destinations on the planet, comparable only to the Galapagos (in fact, the islands are also known as the “Mexican Galapagos” or the “little Galapagos”) or Cocos Island, for the encounters with pelagic and large marine species, including a great variety of up to seven species of sharks (hammerheads, silky sharks, Galapagos sharks, whitetip sharks, silvertip sharks, Pacific longimanus sharks, tiger sharks), giant Pacific manta rays (especially on San Benedicto Island, the best place in the world to enjoy these animals), humpback whales (from January to April) and dolphins. We must not forget the whale sharks and the large schools of carangids and tuna, as well as endemic species that can only be seen in Revillagigedo.
