Dive one of Indonesia’s most spectacular regions
Explore the stunning biodiversity of the North Banda Sea, a remote area located within the Coral Triangle, considered one of the richest regions on the planet in marine species. This itinerary is designed for divers looking for unique experiences, pelagic wildlife and untouched reefs far from the traditional tourist routes.

Area of great depth, with trenches of up to 8,000 metres.

Part of the Ring of Fire, with active volcanic islands and spectacular scenery.

Sailing between historical islands such as Banda Neira, Serua or Hatta.

Only accessible in October and November, when sea conditions allow the crossing.

Ideal for experienced divers looking for demanding dives and encounters with large pelagics such as hammerhead sharks, barracuda, tuna and more.

Itinerary

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Ambon

Boarding, check dive in Ambon Bay and night sailing to the Banda Islands.

Day 2 - Pulau Suanggi

Three dives on coral pinnacles, virgin reefs and areas with frequent passage of pelagic fauna.

Day 3 - Pulau Manuk

Diving in a volcanic environment, home to sea snakes and large schools of fish. Sailing to Nil Desperandum.

Day 4 - Nil Desperandum

Open ocean reef, excellent for spotting hammerhead sharks. Three dives.

Day 5 - Pulau Serua

Little explored area, ideal for deep diving and shark encounters. In the afternoon, cultural visit to an isolated village.

Day 6 - Pulau Hatta and Karang Hatta

Dives on coral walls of great biodiversity. In the afternoon, arrival at Banda Neira and sunset dive.

Day 7 - Neira Band

Cultural visit to colonial remains and spice plantations. Diving at Batu Kapal, Lava Flows and other highlights.

Day 8 - Banda Islands

Diving in other islands of the archipelago, such as Run. Sailing to Nusa Laut.

Day 9 - Nusa Laut (Ameth's Knoll)

Two morning dives on reefs protected by the local community. Sailing back to Ambon.

Day 10 - Ambon

Disembarkation in the morning.

End of services provided.

The itinerary may be subject to change due to weather or logistical conditions.

SERVICES INCLUDED

Transfers from the airport to SMY Ondina and back.
10 days / 9 nights aboard the SMY Ondina schooner in a shared double cabin with a/c and private bathroom.
Full board on board. Includes mineral water, tea, coffee, snacks during the day and soft drinks.
An average of 2 or 4 dives per day including night dives when conditions permit.
12 litre bottles with air and lead.
Additional services on board such as library, music or first aid.
Spanish speaking guide.
Travel and diving assistance insurance.

Life on board

S.M.Y. ONDINA

Sailing on a “phinisi”, a typical Buginese schooner built using traditional techniques from tropical wood, through the seas of this route is a unique, romantic and adventurous experience. Having the chance to explore this diving destination, with virtually unexplored areas on board the SMY Ondina, is something exceptional.

It was built in South Sulawesi by the seafaring Bugis tribes and custom-built under the direct supervision of Operations Director Ricard Buxó: “by a diver for divers”.

It’s spacious interiors comfortably accommodate 16 passengers in 8 double cabins, each with air conditioning and private bathroom, of which the two forward cabins have two single bunk beds each, while the remaining six cabins are equipped with a double bed and a single bunk above.
