The best dive sites in the Fiji Islands:

1. Beqa Lagoon:

This lagoon offers a wide variety of dive sites, including the famous Shark Reef, where you can dive with bull sharks and tiger sharks, among others.

2. Koro Sea:

The Koro Sea is where things get exciting. It features soft coral gardens in shallow waters, home to millions of reef fish.

As an additional highlight, this is a zone where manta rays can often be spotted feeding.

2.1 Gau:

Nigali Passage is home to 10-25 female grey reef sharks and their pups. The passage also hosts a large school of jacks, three separate schools of barracudas sorted by age, several large Malabar groupers, and a bustling aggregation of snappers.

2.2 Wakaya:

Another interesting site in this area is Wakaya, where during dives we often see resident manta rays at cleaning stations, and hammerhead sharks frequently come closer to inspect us.

Grey reef sharks and whitetip reef sharks reside along the slope, but the healthy coral and the creatures living in it often excite divers the most: ribbon eels, scorpionfish, and resting lionfish. The plateau just above the deep drop-off is home to the very rare Helfrich’s dartfish.

3. Namena Marine Reserve:

This dive site has it all: concentrated schools of large fish and spectacular soft coral reefs.

On the seabed, several large and well-fed groupers wait to ambush any fish seeking refuge from the grey reef sharks swimming among schools of barracudas and jacks above.

If you are a photographer, the seabed is filled with jawfish, shrimp gobies, fire dartfish, sticky anemones, and a variety of juveniles, while the pinnacles have more nudibranchs and pipefish than you can capture with your camera.

4. Bligh Water:

This is one of the best coral reef dives in the world. You can find all kinds of hard and soft corals, large schools of jacks and barracudas, among many other fish species. But the most exciting part is the occasional sighting of hammerhead sharks and eagle rays.

The Fiji Islands are home to a vast variety of marine life, including sharks, rays, sea turtles, moray eels, nudibranchs, octopuses, and a large variety of reef fish. Large pelagic species such as tuna, barracudas, and jacks are also common.
