Tubbataha, marine sanctuary
Declared a National Marine Park and a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO, Tubbataha Reef is possibly one of the best diving waters not only in the Philippines but on the entire planet.
The geographic centre of the world’s biodiversity, in the heart of the Coral Triangle, this nature reserve is considered a mecca for divers and a model for coral reef conservation. Its remote location in the middle of the Sulu Sea, 150 km southeast of Puerto Princesa on the island of Palawan (the westernmost Philippine province), as well as the strict regulations of this marine park, mean that access is only possible for a few live-aboard boats during the months of April to June, when wind and wave conditions permit.
