THAI PARADISE – SIMILAN & SURIN ISLANDS
Thailand offers some of the best diving in Southeast Asia. Year-round warm tropical waters, exceptional underwater visibility and a wide variety of marine and coral life are ideal conditions for divers.
Highlights of diving in Thailand include whale sharks and manta rays during the January to April season. Blacktip sharks, turtles and schools of barracudas. Among those common to the macro world there are seahorses, cuttlefish, nudibranchs, octopuses and pipefish. A wide variety of underwater landscapes will delight even the most experienced diver.
Thailand has coastlines on two seas: the Andaman Sea on the west side and the Gulf of Thailand on the east coast. Both seas offer fantastic diving, with the Similan and Surin Islands in the Andaman Sea being the most famous.
Richelieu Rock, an isolated seamount in the middle of the ocean, covered with beautiful purple soft corals and magnificent sea anemones, is a signature dive of the Similan and Surin Islands itineraries. Filled with marine life of all kinds, this is a dive you can repeat again and again. Moray eels, ornate ghost pipefish, crushing mantis shrimps, harlequin shrimps, tiger tail seahorses, Spanish mackerel, frogfish, lots of schooling snappers and, for the lucky ones, sightings of manta rays and whale sharks.
South of Phuket, immerse yourself in the beautiful seascapes of Hin Daeng, Hin Muang, Koh Haa and Koh Phi Phi Phi. Impressive caverns and passages where you’ll find ringed sea snakes, impressive schools of yellow snappers and, for the lucky ones, a whale shark or manta ray may pass close by. No matter which itinerary you choose, a world-class diving experience awaits you in Thailand.
